Third Street Promenade Improvements

Downtown Santa Monica enhancements began with a comprehensive assessment of Downtown’s existing streetscape infrastructure. The resulting study provided a complete inventory of existing assets and a strategy outline for enhancement of the area.  The downtown-wide strategy started with a pilot project at the northern end of the Promenade at Third and Wilshire whose elements included new directory signs and map cases, a wayfinding pylon marker, upgraded light poles, upgraded landscaping, and enhancements to the existing fountain. These elements where eventually upgraded and incorporated along a four block stretch of the pedestrian shopping corridor.
