Every place has a story—
great design brings it to life.
Short Street Studio is a multidisciplinary design practice based in Los Angeles. We work across identity, environmental graphics, signage, and urban design to create purposeful, context-driven projects. From a logo to a boulevard, we help communities, organizations, and cities tell their stories in the world.
Who We Are
Eli Garsilazo
Principal | Architecture & Urban Design
Eli Garsilazo is a founding principal at Short Street Studio. His work focuses on sustainable regional development, urban revitalization, public spaces, architecture, and public transportation.
He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Arizona State University and a Master of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. Before Short Street Studio he was an Associate Principal at Suisman Urban Design where he had been a part of the team since 2001. Many projects he has designed and managed have gone on to win prestigious awards and grants from AIA, APA, and NEA.
During the summer, Eli loves the sound of the Palm Springs desert from 10,834 feet up at the peak of Mt. San Jacinto (it’s cooler up there). He is a fan of Dodgers baseball in Spring and Fall, and he doodles with oils and water colors—regardless of the season.
Sean Christensen
Principal | Branding & Environmental Graphics
Sean Christensen is a founding principal of Short Street Studio. His work spans brand identities, environmental graphics, posters, books, and advertising—extending from the printed page to the screen to the built environment.
He studied graphic design at the University of Southern California, graduating in 2011, and spent ten years as lead graphic designer at Suisman Urban Design before co-founding Short Street Studio. He has previously worked on branding and marketing projects for luxury hospitality and real estate developments. His work also includes design and communication initiatives for a federal agency focused on public health and safety.
Originally from Los Angeles, Sean now lives in West Virginia, where he enjoys exploring Appalachian trails and experimenting in the kitchen.
Our Philosophy
At Short Street Studio, our work is guided by three core principles:
Unearth the Story
Every project begins with context. We look closely at the history, culture, and character of a place to reveal the story that informs our designs.
Seek the New
We seek out new and innovative approaches, exploring creative possibilities and challenging conventions to expand what design can do.
Design for Difference
We celebrate the uniqueness of each project and the people it serves, creating work that reflects and strengthens community identity.
From a grand boulevard to a short street, our philosophy is the same: purposeful, thoughtful design that connects people to place.
