Blackstone Optometry

A neighborhood optometrist gets a logo refresh and facade improvements

Blackstone Optometry, in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles was in need of an update to its current logo to conform with its new membership requirements for a network of vision care providers. This modification also required the development of new business cards, letterhead, and miscellaneous digital branding graphics to replace the outdated material.

Though the client had been established in the same neighborhood location for over a decade, he recognized the need to strengthen Blackstone’s street presence, especially now given the new business organization. Understanding the budget limitations, a combination of new awnings and strategically placed signs, along with a facade facelift using color, all helped achieve this goal with moderate means.

Logo Update

Blackstone was in need of a new logo that aligned with the parent group’s branding, while still keeping its own identity. The main icon, which has been part of their logo for years, is based on traditional Chinese characters meaning Black and Stone. We refined the shapes, and created different layouts that feature it.

New Stationery

The new stationery includes business cards, appointment cards, and letterhead.

Facade Improvements

The office was lacking signage, so we designed four sleek awnings, featuring the updated identity. On the north side of the building we installed a metal sign visible to passing pedestrians.

We also proposed an update to the fading red and turquoise paint. Off-white paint and a rich deep brown trim give the building a prominent presence on the street, and fit in with the Southern California Spanish architecture.
